Omul de stiinta Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) strabate lumea in lung si-n lat, disperat sa afle un leac pentru boala care-l face sa se transforme intr-un urias monstru verde. Pe urmele lui pornesc trupe militare, hotarate sa-l prinda si sa-l studieze, pentru a-i folosi puterile in scopuri marsave. Tocmai cand Banner este pe punctul de a gasi antidotul, ceea ce-l poate apropia de singura femeie pe care a iubit-o vreodata (Liv Tyler), el trebuie sa scape si de Monstru, o bestie cu puteri la fel de mari ca ale lui.
